The Comptoir Manitra Spirit
In Malagasy, Manitra means "fragrant". This simple word alone captures the essence of our approach: the relentless pursuit of the purest aromas.
Comptoir Manitra was born from a passion for the Great Island and its forgotten treasures. Far from industrial supply chains, we chose the path of craftsmanship. We travel the plantations of Madagascar to select, pod by pod, a vanilla that has taken the time to ripen, be dried and hand-massaged using ancestral methods.
To bring you excellence, we go straight to the source. Our approach rests on a strong conviction: a great spice is, above all, the result of a human connection.

Frequently Asked Questions
When will my order be shipped?
We prepare your parcels with the same care we bring to curing our pods. Every order is processed and shipped within 24 to 48 business hours. Final delivery time then depends on the carrier chosen at checkout.
Where exactly does your vanilla come from?
From the SAVA region, in north-eastern Madagascar. It's the world's sanctuary for the Vanilla planifolia orchid. We source our pods directly there, on that red earth, with no middlemen. This short supply chain is our only guarantee of "Grand Cru" quality while fairly paying the growers.
I'm a craftsperson or restaurateur — do you have tailored offers?
Absolutely. Whether you need Gourmet Vanilla, TK Black quality or Vanilla Powder for your kitchen lab, we support professionals. Head to our "Pro Area" to tell us about your needs, open an account and access our volume pricing.
Are your products packaged and shipped from France?
Yes. While our vanilla draws its strength and aroma from the soil of Madagascar, the final step takes place in France. Every pod is rigorously checked, carefully packaged and shipped directly from our French workshop. This guarantees preserved freshness and fast delivery straight to your kitchen.
Gourmet or TK Premium: what's the difference?
It all comes down to curing time and moisture content. The quality of the terroir stays the same, but the use differs:
- Gourmet Vanilla: The top choice of great chefs. Packed with moisture (over 30%), the pod is fleshy, oily, deep black and extremely supple. Under your knife blade, it splits effortlessly to release a generous caviar. It's the essential ally for your custards, ganaches and fine pastries.
- TK Premium Vanilla: Cured for longer, it has lost some of its water (around 25 to 30% moisture) to concentrate its strength. Slightly slimmer and sometimes showing subtle coppery highlights, it offers formidable aromatic intensity. The secret of this range: with less water, it yields more pods per kilo. It's the perfect choice for connoisseurs for long macerations, flavoured rums or homemade extracts.
What is the SAVA region?
SAVA is the beating heart of the world's vanilla, located in north-eastern Madagascar.
Its name is simply the acronym of its four main towns: Sambava, Antalaha, Vohémar and Andapa. It's within this very small area that the Vanilla planifolia orchid finds its absolute balance.
Thanks to a unique tropical microclimate, constant humidity and remarkably rich red soil, this terroir produces the most intense and complex pods in the world. It's from there, and only from there, that our vanillas come.
